A Bit About Emily

Emily Foster brings clarity, compassion, and conviction to the heart of America Invests. As a contributor, she ensures that the big ideas driving our work: universal basic income, public wealth, post-scarcity economics are communicated in ways that are human, hopeful, and grounded in daily life.

With a background in journalism and civic storytelling, Emily has spent her career helping people understand the systems that shape them and imagine what better ones could look like. She believes good policy begins with shared language, and that dignity, not productivity, should define how we value each other.

Emily’s articles often focus on what’s changing quietly beneath the surface of American life: the hidden costs of labor, the meaning of ownership, and how technology might liberate more than it extracts. She’s particularly attuned to the emotional and generational dimensions of economic change.

She lives in the Midwest with her daughter and a rotating collection of library books. Offline, she gardens, teaches workshops, and infects everyone with her enthusiasm for life.
